Ok let’s jump right into this subject! I set a goal this fall/winter to purchase more comfy sweaters! So that’s what I’ve done. But the last thing I want to have happen is to buy cute sweaters and have them get ruined in the washing and drying process. So, I’ve had to figure out the BEST and most delicate way to care for my sweaters, in the easiest way possible. Here are a few tips I discovered that have worked like a CHARM!
This first tip I feel was the biggest game changer for me… are you ready for it? DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!! Make sure that you wash your sweaters inside out! Easy enough right? Well, let me tell you why. When your clothes are being washed (even on a delicate cycle) all the clothes are rubbing together. When fabrics rub together they can create little fuzz balls ALL OVER! You know what I’m talking about ladies! So if you wash them inside out they will be doing less rubbing on the inside of the fabric, which in reality is the actual outside! Let’s take this one step further just because I want to be extra particular. When you hang your sweaters in your closet make sure to hang them inside out as well. This has SAVED my knitted sweaters for sure.
Second tip is to hang dry your sweaters! You have a couple of options. Either hang on a rack, lay flat on a towel (this has been the best way to keep its shape), drape it on the inside of your hanger or hang it on your hanger inside out. Why should it hang inside out you ask? Well I’m sure we have all made the mistake of hanging your clothes on a hanger and when you go to wear it you have pointy shoulders from the hangers imprint. It’s seriously SO annoying! But Good News! If you hang it inside out those little pointy shoulders will not be pointing out anymore. They lay nice and flat on your shoulders. YOU ARE WELCOME!
My last tip is to wash your sweaters in cool/cold water. Cold water does the least amount of damage. Cool water helpsprevent shrinking, fading and color bleeding. Warm water is what helps to remove stains. So if you have a stain you may want to hand wash your sweater alone, just to be on the safe side. (I removed the period after alone and joined the two sentences.)
Well that’s a wrap! Feel free to leave a comment especially if you have any other easy and helpful tips in regards tothe care and treatment of your sweaters. Thanks for reading ~ Have a fabulous day Beauties!
Thank you Chauncey, Great Tips I always disliked the pointy shoulders and I do wash all in cold water or warm cold rinse and inside out everything on delicate cycle. ?❤️??
